ok, just fyi for people who dont know what happens with my computer. it has a mind of its own, and randomly decides taht i no longer need to be on air. my computer is named 'the dragon'. havent given him an official name yet. but good grief! it is annoying to have to have a dj on standby just incase my dragon decides to kick me off. he has a bad habit of behaving all week, even thru most of mmy show, and then decides he's tired of having to work, and freezes the entire comp. but yet he will not kick me off while playing an online game, or talking on skype, etc. it is sooooo agrivating! and i know that everyone else doent really want to have to 'babysit' this ornery dragon. grrrr it makes me so mad!

if anyone has a sugestion as to how i can keep my 'dragon' happy, please let me know. until then i am saving up to buy another computer that can be just for broadcasting the station.

All I can suggest is the usual stuff. Check to make sure all your drivers are working properly, do a regular defrag, registry cleanup, virus scan, check disk scan, the works. And you might want to check out this website:

    http://www.testmy.net

It can tell you what your upload and download speeds are and see if they are up to par with what your internet providers say you should be running, if not, have a nice little chat with them.

If none of that helps the problem then maybe your fella wouldn't mind letting you install the broadcaster on his comp and then just during your show you two could switch computers at least until you've got the problem with your comp worked out.

Like I said before tho, before buying a new one, you might want to take it to a compy repair place and get an estimate of what it will cost to have it checked out and they should be able to give a pretty decent guess as to what the problem is after you describe the issue to them, and they may be able to give an estimate on how much it would cost to repair the problem, and if it costs less than buying a new one, I would just have it repaired.

    Best of luck chick!

    Hi ladies,

During my journeys lately, to far and wonderful places, I encountered a similar situation. My PC would just up and die on me for no reason. After much brainstorming a friend and I found the reason:

I was hacked and some trojans put onto my PC. So I went crazy and set up two proxies and changed all my passwords.

Drakitara Check your CPU usage, [ctrl]-[alt]-[del]. If its more than 5%, then something is wrong, even running the internet it should be about 3%. There may be a virus or worm at work... or hacker if its showing more usage than this. Hackers can use cookies to get IP addresses and such like, I got mine from a site that specialises in making signatures =/. They obviously found me an easy target and somehow mirrored the site when I tried to log on once.

Firefox has a special privacy icon to remove cookies. Its under EZ Themes, but the application is slightly gliched, I'd advise not doing web searches with EZ Themes.

Now, I use the following three Utilities, all FreeWare, to clean up my PC after a good night's WebSurfing.

    1)
    http://www.ccleaner.com/

The best of the three cleaners and definately the first and last one I use.

    2)
    http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25

This is specifically designed for Firefox and XP users. It can and does still work with Explorer, so I'm told.

    3)
    http://www.glaryutilities.com/

This is a track doctor. Basically making sure that sectors and bad data is erased and restored where possible.

    1 - I use CCleaner first.
    2 - Then ATF Cleaner.
    3 - Then Glary Utilities.
4 - And then CCleaner again. (It can pick up some altered files during the processes use by the other two utilities.)

I urge you all to be cautious and just keep watch over going to new and strange websites. The most friendly of people could end up being a most despicable invader. Use the utilities, after removing my cookies my PC ran faster when I was online and I got less error messages due to connectivity. Some cookies track you online and that uses bandwidth.

thank you siah, i will try your suggestions. but i think it has more to do with skype. i did a test the other day with shaiya, with skype closed and with it running. the game ran faster without skype, and died drasticly when i activated skype. i didnt even have to be in a call. so i'm not too sure. but hopefully your words of wisdom will help out.

Have you emptied out your conversation history? And I don't mean just in the conversation tab, I mean up at the top where it says 'Tools', click 'Options', then in the box that pops up, click 'IM Settings, and click the button that says clear history. If you haven't done that, then that could explain why Skype is having so much trouble, it takes up a TON of memory when you have months of conversation and call history with as many people as we talk to every day! lol

And if you have done that, then I'm clueless and wish you the best of luck on working out the issue.
